Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

Last updated: 09.02.2026

This document governs the Terms of Service for the "Jewish daily wisdom" app (the "App") and the Privacy Policy applicable to its use. By installing or using the App, you confirm that you have read and agreed to the terms below.

Disclaimer: This document is provided for transparency and informational purposes and does not constitute legal advice.

⸻

1) Operator details and contact

App operator: Yehonatan Rashi (the "Operator").
For questions regarding terms/privacy, contact: dailyquotes.he@gmail.com

⸻

2) Service description

The App displays a daily Jewish verse/quote in Hebrew and allows:
    1. Adding widget(s) to the Home Screen and/or Lock Screen to display the quote outside the App.
    2. Creating widget profiles so each widget can show different content (for example by category/topic).
    3. Sharing the quote/quote card to social networks or other apps through the iOS share mechanism.
    4. Tutorial screens and a "Terms of Service and Privacy Policy" screen/sheet.

Use of the App is also subject to applicable Apple and App Store terms (where relevant).

⸻

3) Terms for textual content (licensing and attribution)

The App uses open Jewish textual sources, as detailed below:

3.1 Topic-based content
    • The App pulls verses from Sefaria.org by themes (for example: friendship, gratitude, Shabbat, generosity, forgiveness, trust, ethics, love, peace, joy).
    • For each theme, Sefaria links sources from Jewish texts — Tanakh, Talmud, Midrash, and others — and the App selects a short excerpt (about 5–15 words) from each source.
    • Texts are sourced via Sefaria; each source license (for example CC BY-SA 3.0 or public domain) is determined by the source page on Sefaria.
    • Minor technical changes may include cantillation mark removal.

Full license:
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/

3.2 General clarification (no sponsorship/affiliation)

Use of source texts does not indicate any partnership, endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation by Sefaria with this App.
All rights remain with their respective rights holders, subject to applicable law and licenses.

⸻

4) Intellectual property in the App

Except for third-party content (such as open-licensed/public-domain text), all intellectual property rights in the App (including code, design, UI, graphic elements, and operator logo/trade name where applicable) belong to the Operator or lawful licensors.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, republish, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from the App or its components without prior written permission, except where permitted by law.

⸻

5) User license

The Operator grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for private, non-commercial purposes, subject to this document and applicable law.

⸻

6) Prohibited use

You may not use the App in any unlawful, abusive, misleading manner, or in a way that disrupts App operation. Attempts to bypass security, perform intrusion activity, or misuse the App are prohibited.

⸻

7) Service availability and changes

The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. The Operator may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue the App (in whole or in part) from time to time, including for maintenance, security, or improvements.

⸻

8) Limitation of liability

Content shown in the App is provided for study/inspiration only and does not constitute religious, legal, medical, or personal advice.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Operator is not liable for any direct, indirect, consequential, special, or incidental damages, including loss of data, profits, or other harm arising from use of, or inability to use, the App.

⸻

Privacy Policy

9) General principle

The App aims to collect/process the minimum data necessary for operation. As of this update, the App does not operate user accounts and does not maintain a dedicated backend server for user personal data.

⸻

10) Information stored on device (local only)

The App stores local on-device information to remember preferences and power widgets, such as:
    • User name (for personalized display, if entered by the user).
    • Preferences (for example selected topics, daily quote frequency, similar settings).
    • Widget profiles (settings set per widget/profile).
    • Onboarding state (whether onboarding is complete).
    • Last shown quote content and helper sync data between App and widget (for example last update time/next expected quote time).
    • Cache of recently fetched quotes for availability/performance.

This data is stored on-device for App/widget operation.

⸻

11) Information that may be shared with third parties

11.1 Fetching content from Sefaria.org

To fetch verses/texts, the App makes requests to Sefaria.org external services. During such requests, technical metadata that typically accompanies internet traffic (for example IP address, browser/device type, request time) may be processed according to that provider's policies/settings.

11.2 Sharing content via iOS

When you share, the App transfers selected content/image to third-party apps through iOS share mechanisms. Once shared, that third party's privacy policy applies.

⸻

12) Permissions

The App may request notifications permission to display reminders for new quotes based on user settings. You may revoke this permission at any time in iOS settings.

⸻

13) Deletion and consent withdrawal (current state)

Since data is primarily local on-device, you can remove local data by uninstalling the App. Notification permissions can be disabled at any time in iOS settings.

⸻

14) Data security

The App relies on iOS security mechanisms and aims to take reasonable measures to reduce risks. However, no security is absolute, and App use is at user risk.

⸻

15) Minors

The App is not intended to collect personal data from minors. If a parent/guardian believes data was entered against their wishes, they may contact the Operator using the details in section 1.

⸻

16) Changes to this document

The Operator may update this document from time to time. In case of material changes to privacy policy or terms, a notice may be shown in the App and/or on the App Store listing, as applicable. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance of the updated text.

⸻

17) Governing law and jurisdiction

This document and App use are governed solely by the laws of the State of Israel. Exclusive jurisdiction for disputes is with competent courts in the Tel Aviv district.

⸻

18) Useful links (licenses and source)

⸻

19) Website terms

The official website (landing pages, terms, privacy, accessibility) is provided for information and user support regarding the App. Website use is subject to this document and applicable law.

Without limiting the above:
    • No unauthorized automated use (scraping/bots), intrusion attempts, or actions harming site availability.
    • No impersonation or deceptive/abusive use of the website.
    • No commercial reuse of website content without prior written permission.

⸻

20) Website privacy

As of this update, the site is static and does not include user account systems. Hosting/infrastructure providers may process basic technical data (for example IP, browser type, access times, error logs) for security, operations, and troubleshooting.

If analytics or additional third-party components are introduced in the future, this document will be updated accordingly.

⸻

21) Third-party links and services

The website and App may include links to third-party services (for example Apple App Store, Sefaria, and share targets). Such services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and the Operator is not responsible for their content or practices.

⸻

22) Apple App Store / App Store Connect compliance

Distribution through Apple App Store is also subject to applicable Apple legal documents, including:
    • Apple Media Services Terms.
    • Apple Standard EULA, unless a valid custom EULA is published.

For transparency and publication requirements, this document is published on the App's public website as legal information available to users.
